Mortal Kombat is a much beloved fighting game franchise, which sort of created a rift in the audience for this game. Most people sought a Mortal Kombat game for the over-the-top violence enhanced one on one battles. So when Midway had the idea to release a game detailing the origins of one of its fighters, some fans thought it was a cool idea, others just wanted a new fighting game as other installments had given them. Although it did pack some classic over-the-top violence, the result was a fairly uncelebrated adventure game, but one complete with a leveling system, a layout reminiscent of the fighting game, and an increasing amount of ice powers as you progress. Give it a try, you may be surprised!
