WCW/nWo Revenge was the final AKI/THQ game to feature the WCW license before jumping ship to WWF, who had started climbing ahead in wrestling's Monday Night Wars. Despite the beginning of WCW's decline, WCW/nWo revenge was highly successful and brought in over a million sales for the Nintendo 64, making it the best selling wrestling game for the console. The grappling system was similar to previous installments of the THQ wrestling games, but brought highly improved graphics and increased gaming capabilities like Championship mode, which allowed the player to play out a title push, just like what was featured on actual WCW programming!
